Dr. Shahryar A. Ashouri MD

Medical Advisory Board

Shahryar A. Ashouri, MD is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is currently UCLA Health’s Northwest Medical Campus Medical Director of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Ashouri’s primary objective has always been service to his patients and community. Through his academic ties, Dr. Ashouri has brought targeted, state of the art management, including clinical trials, to his cancer patients. His goal is to create a comprehensive treatment strategy for each of his patients, which not only assists them in fighting their disease, but, also maintaining their high quality of life.

Dr. Ashouri is a board-certified, fellowship-trained hematologist and medical oncologist. Dr. Ashouri earned his medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County Medical Center. Dr. Ashouri received his fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, at the University of Southern California. After training, he joined the faculty at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA as Assistant Professor of Medicine, under the division of hematology and medical oncology.

      Dr. Fataneh Majlessipour, MD

      Medical Advisory Board

      Fataneh (Fae) Majlessipour, MD, is the Director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC). She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. She is also an Associate Clinical Professor of pediatrics at David Geffen School of Medicine at Univeristy of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

      Dr. Majlessipour earned her medical degree from the Isfahan School of Medicine, University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran. After a short stay in France, Dr. Majlessipour moved to US where she completed a pediatric internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, California and a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, University of Southern California.

      After completing her fellowship, Dr. Majlessipour assumed the role of Attending Physician at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital in Loma Linda, California for eight years. In 2008, Dr. Majlessipour was appointed as Associate Director and in 2011 as Director of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Los Angeles. Dr. Majlessipour is also the Principal Investigator of Children Oncology Group at CSMC.

      As an author, Dr. Majlessipour has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals such as “Blood”, “Anticancer Research”, and “Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery”. She has lectured extensively on topics such as late effects of childhood cancer, pediatric brain tumors and more.

      Dr. Majlessipour is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

      Dr. Majlessipour has been involved with many community services related to children with cancer since 2001: she served on “Board of Directors” of “Candlelighters of Inland Empire” from 2004 to 2006 and currently is a member of “Medical Advisory Board” for “The Bone Marrow Foundation” since 2013.

        Dr. Toska Joze Zomorodian

        Medical Advisory Board

        Dr. Toska Zomorodian, MD, received her medical degree from the combined Dartmouth/Brown Program in Medicine in 2001. She then obtained her internship in Pediatrics at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (USC Medical School) and completed residency in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Boston (Harvard Medical School). Dr. Zomorodian then completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Yale Medical School in 2007.

        She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. After completion of her training, she returned to USC and CHLA as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Pediatrics, where she specialized in Pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma. Since 2011, she has joined Southern California Kaiser Permanente, where she practices Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at rhe Downey and Anaheim Medical Centers.

        Dr. Zomorodian has received several awards and published many papers in peer-reviewed journals throughout her career. She is an author of book chapters in Pediatric Oncology, and she was recognized as a "Top Doc" in Pasadena Magazine. She is a member of several professional organizations such as American Society of Hematology, American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and Children's Oncology Group.

            Dr. Shahab Asgharzadeh is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Pathology at the University of Southern California. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1992 and medical degree from University of Illinois in 1996. He completed his residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago in 2000, and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at in 2004 prior to joining USC.

            Dr. Asgharzadeh specializes in treating children with neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma and leads a research laboratory aimed at understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment in biology of these tumors. His research also uses next generation sequencing technologies to discover novel targets for therapy. His group’s identification of the role of immune system in neuroblastomas has provided data for the use of new immunotherapeutic approaches in the treatment of this disease.

            Dr. Asgharzadeh’s research program is funded by number of organizations including the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society. He is a member of the NIH sponsored Neuroblastoma Therapeutically Applicable Research to Generate Effective Treatments (Neuroblastoma TARGET) project and an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group and serves on this organization’s Neuroblastoma Biology Committee.

              Fariba Goodarzian MD is vice chair of the Department of Radiology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Assistant professor of Radiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). She had her medical degree from Uremia University Medical School/ Iran, then finished her residency in diagnostic radiology, Tehran University, Iran. Dr. Goodarzian completed two fellowships: Pediatric Radiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles. Her research includes the use of spectroscopy and other advanced imaging techniques in diagnosing such conditions as Osteosarcoma, and Neuroblastoma.
