Dr. Nima Gharavi

Dr. Nima Gharavi is a leading dermatologist and key opinion leader in dermatologic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. At Cedars-Sinai, he is also the director of Dermatologic surgery & Mohs micrographic surgery, fellowship director of the Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Surgery fellowship, and co-director of the Cutaneous Malignancies Tumor Board. Dr. Gharavi is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery, as well as a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and past president of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Gharavi graduated summa cum laude at UCLA, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology with a specialization in Business and Administration, and received both his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at UCLA. He then completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai and residency in dermatology at UCLA. Following residency, Dr. Gharavi completed a rigorous fellowship at UCLA in Procedural Dermatology, which featured a full integration of Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery with laser and cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Gharavi is the recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Lasky award, the Irvine Page young investigator award, and the ACMS Theodore Tromovitch award for his research on skin cancer. He has been the recipient of grants from the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Psoriasis Foundation. He is a consultant and has served on the advisory board and the board of directors for several novel cancer and laser therapeutics. He also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy. To date, Dr. Gharavi has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters, and continues to lecture and teach at national and international conferences.
