Dr. Alireza Tafazzoli practices in Orange County, California and volunteers as a Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine in Los Angeles. By being involved in various expeditions, international volunteer projects and charitable organizations and by traveling independently, he has explored over 100 countries on 7 continents. He has volunteered for different organizations including Unicef, Doctors Without Borders, Rotary International and National Geographic.
Babak Larian is a highly experienced, board certified Ear, Nose, & Throat Specialist and Head & Neck surgeon. He graduated with academic and humanitarian distinction, from UC Irvine School of Medicine. In 2002 after completing a 6-year residency program in Ear, Nose, & Throat (otolaryngology) and Head & Neck Surgery at UCLA, he began his professional career. He then went on to become a founding member and later the Director of the Cedars-Sinai Head & Neck Cancer Center of Excellence. Dr. Larian is the chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Cedar Siani Hospital in Los Angeles. He holds this prestigious position from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2013.
Dr. Naderi is the director of Solar System Exploration at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Formerly he was NASA's Mars Program Manager.
Dr. Naderi is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the recipient of a number of awards, including NASA’s Outstanding Leadership Medal, Space Technology Hall of Fame Medal, Ellis Island Medal of honor, and NASA’s highest award — the Distinguished Service Medal.
Dr. Naderi has always been very gracious in attending our Gala’s and has also been very complimentary to the organization as a whole. Most recently after the 10th anniversary gala he posted a very complimentary message on Facebook, where it ignited numerous positive conversations about the ISCC and the gala. In fact we received calls from supporters who had become familiar with ISCC through his message.
Dr Naderi is an honor for our community and we are fortunate to have him as part of the ISCC family.
Dr. Yeganeh graduated from the University of Tehran, School of Medicine in 1967 and completed her post-graduate studies in London and Scotland Upon her return to Tehran, Dr. Yeganeh began her professional career as a Pediatrician at the Massoudi Children’s Hospital and eventually became the Chief Medical Director.
After she married , Dr. Yeganeh moved to the United States in 1972. She completed her residency at the University of California, at Irvine and started working at Miller’s Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, where she taught UCI pediatric residents. Later She started working at Kaiser Permanente until she retired in 2006.
Dr. Yeganeh is currently living in Newport Beach with her husband and teenage son that she recently adopted from Iran. She also has one daughter and is a proud grandmother of two grandsons.
Dr. Varzandeh was born in Mashad Iran, and received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. He is a professor of supply chain management at California State University and an adjunct professor at the University of California, Riverside and the Claremont Graduate School of management. He has been teaching in the areas of ERP-SAP, supply chain management, Global Logistics and strategies, Operations Management, International Business, Management Sciences, and Quality Management during the past 20 years. His publications are in supply chain management, ERP-SAP, Quality and inventory management. He has developed and directed a number of seminars and workshops in SAP functionality, configuration, analytical analysis and business objects; Six-Sigma Quality; Statistical Sampling; Master scheduling; Operations Scheduling; and Lean manufacturing. He has been educational consultant for a number of organizations, such as Hayden Corporation, General Dynamics, Rockwell International, Frolic Foot Industry, Midwest products, Falcon Jet Corporation, and more during the past years. Dr. Varzandeh is married and has two children and lives in Laguna Niguel, California.
Dr.Khosrow assadi was born in Tehran, Iran in August of 1941. He completed his medical school at Tabriz University, school of medicine and specialized in anesthesiology. From 1974 to 1985 he practiced medicine in Iran and move to Southern California in1985.
In 1998 he started his own Home Care Agency serving the Iranian community. In 2004 he established Annex Healthcare providers, providing shift case home care services.
Dr. Assadi has been an active volunteer with ISCC for many years.
Dr. Malakeh Zahedi graduated at the top student of her class from University of Tehran, School of Dentistry followed by three years of postgraduate training in Periodontics. Upon receiving her California Dental License in 2004, she joined Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC to serve the students as a part time faculty. During ten years of teaching at Dental School of USC, She is recipient of several awards.
Dr. Zahedi holds a private practice. She is an active member of American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Orange County Dental Society.
She feels blessed to have the opportunity to serve the children with needs.
Dr Mansour Farahat was born April 30, 1941 in Tehran, Iran.
He graduated form college of pahramcy of Theran University and Moved to Southern California July of 1986. He has owned his own pharmacy in Orange county and Los Angeles area for the past 20 years.
Dr. Farahat has been a supporter of ISCC for many years and he has provided most of the medications sent to Iran via ISCC.
Dr Masi Mokhtari Hashemian graduated from USC school of Dentistry in 1991. While in school she co-founded Persian Student Dental Association ( PSDA) with Dr Namazikhah, her Endodontics professor. She is an active member of American Dental Association ( ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), Orange County Dental Association ( OCDS), Academy of General Dentistry ( AGD), American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry and World Clinical Laser Institute. She has received her fellowship in Dental Implants from UCLA.
Dr Hashemian has a successful private practice in Irvine where she provides extensive amount of pro bono dental services for less fortunate members of our community as one of her philanthropic activities. For the last 3 decades, Dr Hashemian has been a very active community activist and a supporter of different charity organizations.
As for fun activities she founded the Iranian-American Women’s Volleyball Club ( IWVC) in 2009, in Irvine. IWVC has helped women find their passion and work hard to improve their health, while having fun, through group interaction in volleyball. This in turn has inspired many more women to get active in an organized sport that encourages cooperation and mutual understanding.
Dr. Mohammad Athari attended medical school and graduate school at University of Tehran College of medicine. He did his internship training at Mercer Medical Center and Kings County Hospital followed by residency and fellowship training in Neurology at the University of Texas. He subsequently founded his own private practice of Neurology in Houston.
Dr. Parviz Azarmehr DMD is a dentist who specializes in dentistry and prosthodontics.
In addition to his private practice Dr. Azar-Mehr has been a Clinical Professor of Dentistry in the School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. Dr. Azar-Mehr has been awarded the 25-Year Award by the USC School of Dentistry for his invaluable participation in support of their educational and patient care process.
Dr. Shida Saam is a family medicine physician who treats individuals of all ages, from pediatric through geriatric. She is board certified in family medicine and graduated from western university of Health Sciences.
Away from her practice she is devoted to spending time with her family and serving as a volunteer in the community.
Dr. Shirin Moussavi Ghafouri is a graduate of Tehran University School of Pharmacy. She was involved in drug quality control and lectured at the school of nursing in Iran. In the UK, she conducted research in homeopathic medications at Chelsea College, London University . In the US she has been working in the private sector.
Dr Ghafouri was involved in supporting Kahrizak Home for the Disabled and Elderly/ LCS, the Mother and Child Center after the devastating Roudbar earthquake of 1990, and the Tehran Girl's School for the Blind. She actively supports Yavari Cultural Society and has been intimately involved with MAHAK since its groundbreaking ceremonies in Tehran. Dr. Ghafouri continues to support MAHAK and ISCC with heartfelt dedication.
Maryam Famourzadeh is the VP of Business Development at SalextBio, a life sciences strategy and business development advisory firm based in San Diego. Prior to SalExt Bio, Maryam was the Team Leader and Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Sales at CeeTox Inc. where she structured the sales team and negotiated many sales, collaborations and alliances. She is the founder of Megagenex Biosciences and is the Founder of IALSN, a nonprofit life science company, where she served as the CEO from 2006-2015. With over twenty years of experience in Pre-Clinical CRO and biotech space, Maryam has held various positions in R&D and business Development at UCSD, Avanir Pharmaceuticals, and Megagenex. Maryam attended UCSD and holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and a Master in Business Administration.

Colonel Hamid Ghahari was born in Tehran, Iran and received his Bachelors in Criminal justice from the Police Academy in 1974. He held many positions from 1975 to 1994 as Police Deputy Chief and Federal security director. In June of 1994 he joined Mahak as their Executive Director and served for over 7 years. During this period Colonel Ghahari was instrumental in the growth of Mahak in business planning, expansion, volunteer coordination and event planning. In 2007 he moved to New Jersey where he has been involved with ISCC as East Coast representative.
Mr. John Alagha received his bachelor of accounting from university of Tehran and completed his masters of accounting and Finance at Northrop University. He is currently an enrolled agent with IRS and a member of national Society of Public Accountants and has operated a private office in Southern California since 1987. He specializes in the management of large corporate assets and financial analysis.
Mr. John Alagha has been involved in many charitable causes and has been a supporter and donor of ISCC for many years.

Homa Javid has more than 30 years of experience in various management, administrative and educational positions. She has been an active volunteer for the Society to Support Children with Cancer since 1992. She is passionate about helping children with cancer and helps the organization's philanthropic initiatives through fundraising, member cultivation and stewardship events.
Najmeh Moussavian’s drive and determination brought her to the United States in 1985.
Her passion for science and engineering led to Najmeh earning a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University. While at SDSU, Najmeh’s outstanding scholastic accomplishments led her to accept an offer from Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical.
Najmeh had a lucrative career in aerospace technology while at Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical but wanted to fulfill another role, as housewife and mother.
Najmeh’s passion for family finds her married 24 years to Amir Moussavian, a successful technology and software entrepreneur from San Diego, where they raise two children.
Parenthood has not held Najmeh from creatively applying her energy and talents. She is active in many fundraisers and community events and has sponsored charitable events for schools, children’s organization and community programs. While active in the community she still devotes time to also serve as advisor and consultant for many of her husband’s ventures.
Najmeh Moussavian has forged a strong and successful relationship in business and family.
Nazila Shams is a board member and has been acting as the Chief Financial Officer at Southern California Institute of Technology (SCIT) for the past twenty years. SCIT is an accredited, private college offering a variety of academic programs in the field of business, engineering, and computer science with close to 1000 students attending annually. She has extensive experience with U.S. Department of Education Financial Aid regulations, financial planning, and reporting requirements for postsecondary educational institutions. In addition to her experience working in higher education, she actively supports a variety of charitable foundations, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Arthritis Foundation, The Los Angeles Mission, and UNICEF.
Niloofar Fakhimi is a board member, and one of the founders of Planet Beauty. She is mother of 2 and residing in Newport Beach.
She has served as a committee board member on several major OC establishments such as HOAG and CHOC hospital. She is a true believer in helping children that are less fortunate in our community. Her pure heart, genuine personality, and persistent philanthropic efforts is why she has chosen to share her time with ISCC and continue her endless support for children in need.
Ms. Neda Nobari has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from San Francisco State University where she now serves on the University Foundation’s Board. Ms. Nobari was the Co-Founder and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors at bebe stores inc. from 1984 until 2006. After transitioning away from the corporate sector, Ms. Nobari founded her private foundation and went on to attend Dartmouth College to receive her MA in Liberal Studies, focusing on the intersection of diaspora and cultural identity of Iranian-American women.
Ms. Nobari serves on the Board of Trustees and Advisory Boards of several nonprofit organizations including the Redford Center, Iranian American Women Foundation (IAWF), International Society for Children with Cancer (ISCC), Mom’s Against Poverty (MAP) and Golestan Center for Language Immersion and Cultural Education in Berkeley. In addition to board level commitments, Ms. Nobari works in collaborative partnership with The David Brower Center, Amazon Watch, Chapman University and Mother Jones.
Mr. Saeed Partow received has a master’s in Business administration. He is the CEO of Newport Boat company since 1980. Newport Boat is the largest boat and yacht dealership in the west coast. Mr. Partow has been a supporter and donor with ISCC since 2007 and has supported many other local charities, including Hoag and Choc hospitals.
Dr. Shahin Saless has masters of Science from London School of Economics and a PHD from University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is currently the Vice president and Branch manager at Wells Fargo Bank in Beverly Hills.
Dr. Saless has received numerous Awards and recognitions in the past 10 years. He is also very involved in community and cultural groups, including the Persian connection chair and Caspian connection Chair.
Panteha Abdollahi is Of Counsel in the Litigation practice of Paul Hastings LLP. Her practice focuses on complex business disputes and class actions, and she has significant experience in health care disputes, professional malpractice, and securities litigation. Ms. Abdollahi also has a background in appellate matters, having filed briefs and papers before the United States Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and California Court of Appeals. In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, Ms. Abdollahi was selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers list – Rising Stars Edition.
Prior to joining Paul Hastings LLP, Ms. Abdollahi served for two years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Cormac J. Carney of the United States District Court, Central District of California.
Ms. Abdollahi received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology from UCLA (summa cum laude) in 2000. She graduated with both College Honors and Psychology Departmental Highest Honors, and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. Ms. Abdollahi received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2003, where she was a recipient of the UCLA School of Law David Simon Scholarship.
With respect to philanthropy, Ms. Abdollahi is member of Orange County United Way’s Emerging Tocqueville Leaders, a group of professionals committed to helping build a brighter future for children and families in the Orange County community. She also was one of the founders of the Orange County Chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association and is currently on the IABA National Board of Advisers. She also serves as President-Elect of the Federal Bar Association of Orange County. She has been active with ISCC since 2010.
