History:

The idea of ISCC was born when a young girl was diagnosed with cancer at the age of two. Her mother who had experienced having a child with cancer and had witnessed first hand the pain and difficulties faced by her child, pledged to set up an organization to assist other children and their families in a similar situation. Fortunately, the little girl has now blossomed into a healthy young lady attending UC Berkley. She was her mother’s motivation to start an organization to help low income families with treatment for their children with cancer. She, along with countless other children who have been treated with the help of ISCC are now cancer free. International Society for Children with Cancer has grown into an organization reaching across third world countries in order to help hundreds of needy children suffering from various forms of cancer. The organization is the brainchild of our very special humanitarian mother, Ms. Saideh Ghods who founded MAHAK, a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) in Iran (www.mahak-charity.org). Because of its amazing achievement in helping children with cancer and their families, MAHAK has earned a consulting position from the UN Socio-Economic Forum, ECOSOC.  It has also received an appreciation letter from the Deputy of the United Nations NGO Section for its great accomplishments and concrete results. So far MAHAK has been able to help 10,000 indigent cancer stricken children. After witnessing the success of MAHAK in helping those in need, Ms. Ghods helped expand the extent of assistance to include the larger world community. ISCC was established in the United States in 2004 to undertake the original mission of MAHAK but with access to more resources and on a larger platform.
